Dog Washing Station Installation Guide: Plumbing, Drainage, Door Direction & Room Planning

A good station in the wrong room becomes an expensive obstacle. Installation planning should happen before checkout, especially with 50- to 61-inch stainless models.

Plan the room

Draw the station footprint plus open entry, handler position, plumbing, storage access and landing zone.

Water supply

Confirm connection sizes, hose lengths, shutoff valves and pressure. Included faucets still require compatible building plumbing.

Drainage

Check drain fitting, hair trap, slope and service access. Hair is part of the normal load, so the drain should remain easy to clean.

Door/ramp clearance

Choose left/right entry based on walls, washer/dryer placement, water heater and walking paths.

Level and stabilize

A rocking tub can stress fittings, seals and the dog’s confidence.

Controlled leak test

1. Run faucet without the dog.
2. Check hot/cold and sprayer.
3. Watch every connection.
4. Verify drain speed.
5. Wet the door area and inspect seals.

If permanent supply/drain modifications or code-related work are needed, a qualified plumber can prevent hidden leak damage.
